Scope: National Distribution Centre picking and packing orders for stores, wholesalers and e-commerce customers.
Background: Maplin believed that it had reached its ceiling with regard to warehouse capacity and the capability of its warehouse management software at a time when they wished to build category credibility with the addition of over 15,000 additional products.
Solution: Following the request to provide some consultancy support to review the existing warehouse lay out and warehouse systems capability, iForce were invited to take over the running of the warehouse and to deploy the iForce Gateway software. The existing warehouse is now operating with all of the additional ranges in place, following a re-laying of the warehouse and the ability of the Gateway software to drive higher storage density. Additionally the warehouse is now driving the highest product availability ever experienced by Maplin as well as operating at a higher operating efficiency. iForce and Maplin were recognised for the improvements that they achieved by receiving the Retail Week Supply Chain Collaboration of the Year Award 2015, as well as finalist nominations in the Retail Systems Awards 2015 and European Supply Chain Excellence of the Year.
