General Manager - Stafford

Role Purpose:

To manage site activity and people to maximise profit, whilst achieving revenue growth targets, in a demanding multi client reverse Logistics environment.

To build and lead the site team to ensure resilient people and processes

To build strong, lasting and mutually rewarding relationships with our clients, through a clear understanding of our clients’ businesses

Achieve and exceed contractual client service level agreements (SLA’s)

To develop a capability for growth, particularly with our people

To identify (with colleagues) the required programmes of major change, and drive the required change through our people

 Key Accountabilities:

Operations Management - Ensure that resource planning is carried out to optimise resource and efficiencies, meet or exceed service levels, and maintain costs within agreed budget or forecast.

Ensure that productivity and resource deployment are accurately recorded by client, functional area and task by the operation. Ensure that management reports are made available within the agreed schedule.

Financial Management - Ensure that revenue, cost and margin meet or exceed agreed budgets and forecasts at site and client levels, in both £ and % terms, within areas of responsibility.

Profit and loss accountability – Ensure site sales and purchase ledgers are well managed and reported accurately at site level, and any variances to budget or forecasts are adequately explained with reference to corrective action and timescales.

Client Management and Service - Manage, maintain and grow client business relationships

Identify/create, and exploit new commercial opportunities

Ensure that services provided to site clients meet or exceed the customer’s expectations, and company standards as defined in within agreed contracts, agreements and schedule of company operating standards.

Health and Safety - Meet legal requirements and corporate standards and responsibilities

Promote positive practices

Identify, implement and share best practice opportunities.

Facilities management - Ensure that the site is maintained and serviced (Including all equipment) fully to meet all legislative and company policy requirements and that suitable records are kept to maintain due diligence. 

Ensure the safety and security of the site is regularly reviewed in a formal, documented forum with a diverse cross section of staff involvement.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own and other employees Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Supervision, guidance, support, instruction and training for the development of skills, knowledge and awareness relative to operational requirements, Health, Safety and Welfare of all staff within areas of responsibility
  • Carry out any other duties, which from time to time may be reasonably requested from the senior management team

 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Client facing, used interacting and relationship building within large blue chip organisations at senior levels.

  • Can communicate clearly across several boundaries including senior representatives internally and within the client’s organisation

  • Dynamic leader - Experience of managing large teams within a fast paced commercial environment

  • Enthusiasm, drive and a can do attitude

  • Commercial awareness of managing client SLAs, measuring and monitoring performance using various IT systems

  • Experience of mobilising significant change in people and processes

  • The candidate must have strong Logistics experiences over several years. A retail/ supply chain environment would be a bonus.
